Site Description
Make Barnsoul your first step on the scenic West Coast route to the Highlands (Avoids Glasgow's Industrial Area). We have 50 pitches for tents, caravans, chalets and mountain bothies/bunk houses. Electricity and water throughout. Modern, comfortable shower units with mirror, seat, basin etc. open 24 hours daily. Disabled shower and toilet. Space is the feature of our site, we have nearly 300 acres of paddocks, woodlands, ponds etc. Famous for our wildlife, deer, fox, badger, otter and abundant red squirrels. Bird life is profuse and varied. We are one of Galloway's most scenic areas.
Other Facilities on Site
Wigwam mountain bothies with bunks for 4-6 people, heated and with basic furniture, cushions, mattresses and pillows. Kettle, toaster and fridge. Exterior patio with bench table and stone barbeque.




Nearby Facilities & Tourist Attractions
Our two hill forts back over 2,500 years and our medieval farm settlement to the Middle Ages. Doons Hill Fort is a local vantage point; Threave Castle, Caerlaverock Castle, Drumlanrig and Morton Castles and Sweetheart Abbey all within 15 miles or so. Cycle, walk, ride or fish all within easy reach. Dumfries Swimmming Pool and Ice Bowl offer skating, curling and swimming.
Directions
Follow M6 to Gretna, then take the A75 to Dumfries. At Dumfries By-pass follow signs for Stranrear (A75) at 6 miles turn right at Shawhead, then follow signs for Barnsoul Farm.
